Fiji Pro Sortable Data

Here are the projected values for the Fiji Pro. Below you will find more than enough data to manipulate in order to tweak your team through the selection process. These data projections take the 2014/2015/2016 results into consideration and give a slight weighting to current 2016 form within the context of overall projected scores. Many of the less experienced surfers (less reliable data) have skewed projections due to their averages being heavily influenced by this season's results and having no experience at this event before. Choose rookies with caution. We... Read more

Contest Wash-Up: Oi Rio Pro

“I’m not going to lie; that was a lot of hard work” – 2016 Rio women’s champion, Tyler Wright. Was she talking about winning her third event for the season? Or was she referring to the effort required by surfing fans to stay interested in the Rio Pro? I’m not going to kill myself detailing the ins and outs of the Rio contest as I am already too busy forgetting it in favour of the Fiji Froth-fest, but here are my observations after event 4: Wilko’s flavour-of-the-month title continues... Contest Analysis - Rio 2016

Does anyone remember a time when the Brazilian CT event was held later in the year; wedged between the fickle Mudaka contest and the deservedly hyped Triple Crown circus? Back then, there was a period in his career when Slater would avoid the Brazilian leg if he believed that he could still win a title without needing to go. The message was thus: Kelly was untouchable and Brazil was not worth his time. Things then changed; the contest sites shifted, the event was moved to a more favourable time of... Read more

Read more

Notes From the Line-Up - Rio

As the picture above implies, the tour is no longer being held at heaving West-Australian reef breaks. Our new destination - Grumari, Brazil - brings with it a new set of conditions and a fresh slate for surfers to prove themselves. We spoke to the founder of Fantasy Surfing Tips and Brazilian local Francisco Pimentel (in his 'secondary' language of English) about who's been standing out and all things Brazil going into event 4, here's his wrap: Surf-Stats: Tell us a little about yourself Hi everyone, my name... Injury Update - Oi Rio Pro

Kelly Slater – OUT Slater doesn't need a reason, but here goes: because he's down on form, doesn't like the contest at the best of times, the forecast sucks and he has a world-class wave pool at his disposal. Does anyone blame him? Replaced by TBA Joel Parkison – OUT No reason given. Is he just avoiding the jet skis at this event? Is there a hint of a knee injury? He may just be busy surfing better waves in... Read more

Here are the numbers for the Oi Rio Pro. Below you will find a range of data fields that you can manipulate in order to wade your way through the selection process. These data projections take the 2014/2015/2016 results into consideration and give a slight weighting to 2016 form within the overall projected scores. Leonardo's source data was very limited and we want to specifically stress the... Read more

Contest Wash-Up: Drug Aware Margaret River Pro

“Now I’m just thankful for every comp I get to get in and hopefully, if I do get back on tour next year, I can take the same mentality and do it” – Sebastian Zietz Is 2016 going down as the year of 'mentality' in professional surfing? Wilko has seemingly changed his and has been rewarded with the strongest start to a season he's ever had. Seabass adjusted his, and the results have followed. Slater’s has gone off the rails, and so has his mojo. Expect a lot of talk... Read more

Contest Analysis - Margaret River 2016

The WSL marketing phrase leading up the dramatic end-of-year Pipe contest was “You Can’t Script This”. It was pretty apt for the whirlwind that was the 2015 title race, and it worked well for them at the time. They may as well have been describing the beginning of the 2016 season though, as it has gone decidedly off-script compared to seasons past. Maybe, when it comes to the slings and arrows of predicting the men's tour this... Read more

Margaret River Sortable Data

Here are the updated numbers for the Margaret River Pro. Below you will find a range of data fields that you can manipulate in order to wade your way through the selection process. We stress (again) that our 2016 data projections only take the 2014/2015/2016 results into consideration and, with the crazy season that we've had so far, these numbers look 'interesting' to say the least. Many of the less experienced surfers (less reliable data) have skewed projections due to their averages being heavily influenced by this season's results. Some... Read more
