Fantasy Surf Sessions - An Update

Last updated February 9, 2019 by Balyn McDonald

Where we’re at…

While most of the tour have spent their off-season chasing cyclones, chasing tail, or training down the house, we’ve been working hard on our fantasy site over at Fantasy Surf Sessions.

Since Gabby wrapped 2018 with his Pipe dominance, we’ve managed to plot every heat and result from the past 6 years into the site build. We now have stats integrated into every surfer and event profile. For example, here’s a former Gold Coast winner. Can you guess who?

Or maybe you can tell which tour event would display this table:

All of our data is completely streamlined into the fantasy game, and is only a click away at any given point.

We’ve also tweaked the game itself, simplifying scoring, allowing for emergency substitutes, and refining our budget structures to ensure that we are offering the best fantasy surfing game in the world.

Where to next?

With the final elements of our game build nearing completion, we’re moving towards improving the overall quality and interactivity of the site design. During the course of the 2019 season we plan to offer:

  • Bigger and better prizes for both season and individual contest winners
  • Private leagues and individual competition options
  • A women’s game complete relevant data integration
  • Continued data analysis and fantasy contest previews
  • Community discussion and chat group options

Why not just play the WSL game or Fantasy Surfer?

Why not? Go for it; play everything.

While we’re confident that our gameplay and features will better those of the other fantasy sites, we welcome you to have a bet both ways and choose for yourself. Fantasy and stats are what we do though; they’re not some peripheral novelty that we’re offering as a token. They are our passion.

Plus we’re the only fantasy game that continues to offer genuine prizes to our players.

And we’re also connecting with grass-roots surfing bodies to ensure that a proportion of our profits go directly back into surfing communities.

When can I play?

Soon, young grasshopper. Very soon.

With a little over 5 weeks until the season opener at Snapper, we’re looking to open trading in early March. Giving you plenty of time to run the numbers, select your team, and hit the ground running.

All that’s left to do is sign up, wait for our email confirming trading open, and tell your friends; the more players we have, the better the prizes, the more we support grass-roots surfing, and the better the bragging rights.
